Rohingya Community School was established in 2009. It is MRA's most extended continuous project. This project aims to provide quality preschool and primary education to Rohingya children in Malaysia. We have opened two RCS; Kuala Lumpur and Kedah. We have assisted 300 Rohingya students in gaining primary education throughout the 13 years of its establishment. Currently, we are educating 250 Rohingya children with critical literacy and learning skill.
Challenge
Rohingya are the most prosecuted minority in the world. They are denied educational access in Myanmar. While, in Malaysia, they still can't access the education system due to their refugee status. Rohingya children have become a lost generation due to the absence of education. Education is a necessary empowerment tool that enables Rohingya children to build a better future, for themselves and their community. Thus, RCS sees it necessary to empower them with knowledge, early in life.
Long-Term Impact
This project provides 250 Rohingya children a haven to pursue their educational endeavors. RCS will educate 250 children allowing them to complete their primary education. Completion of primary education provides better chances for higher education attainment and independent life. Thus, enabling them to provide for their family's well-being. Ultimately, they will be able to thrive and rebuild their lives and communities.
