The AIMST project will address health/education needs by constructing the Oti Institute of Science and Technology that will train healthcare workers to provide medical services in the region, as well as train the youth to be cognizant of programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). The immediate strategic plan also includes the purchasing of a mobile clinic and hiring two nurses to provide medical services, as well as conduct STEM programs for about 20 youth.

Challenge

The Oti Region is not as well developed as the other regions in Ghana. The main industries there are farming and fishing, so the majority of the people are relatively poor. There is the lack of fundamental resources that are essential for quality health and education, so the youth end up deficient in basic skills needed to be gainfully employed. The two nearest universities are at Ho, which is about 400 km away in the South, and in the North, about 225 km away. No TV station in the region also.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term goal of AIMST is to establish a university and/or a teaching hospital to train at least, 200 health professionals, who will serve the rural communities in Africa and beyond. Your donations to AIMST will thus bring about social change and much improved quality of life to the communities in the Oti region in particular, as well as other rural initiatives using this pilot project as a model. Investors will be invited in to provide job and other creative opportunities also.
