This project will sponsor four loving foster families in China for one year. Each family is composed of a foster father, a foster mother, and up to four children whose special needs are likely to preclude adoption.
Challenge
Children with more severe special needs are often at higher risk of spending their entire childhood and teenage years in orphanages. Half the Sky provides permanent foster care to these children who otherwise would never know the love of family. Each couple commits to raising up to 4 children with special needs to adulthood. They receive help from Half the Sky's trainers and program directors to learn how to best address the unique needs of their children.
Long-Term Impact
This project enables orphaned children with special needs to grow up in loving families instead of spending their lives in institutions.
