We promote climate-friendly agriculture, restore ecosystems, and plant trees to promote stewardship of the natural environment and produce healthy food. Poverty is the cause of Osa's depletion of natural resources. To protect our natural environment, reduce vulnerability to climate change, and promote food security, our environmental education program is working with hundreds of families and has empowered and trained them about their leading role as stewards of the environment and changemakers.
Challenge
Without good economical options, communities will keep going back to logging and hunting. Economic development and environmental awareness are key to achieve long-term solutions to protect our natural resources and reduce vulnerability to climate change. A sustained program focused on empowering communities and putting knowledge to action, like providing them tools such as regenerative agriculture and analog forest restoration; we hope to create food independence and ecosystem restoration.
Long-Term Impact
After 18 years, some of the kids who participated in our program are now adults. Children and teenagers who participate in the program grow up with excellent soft skills such as self-respect, leadership, teamwork, and respect, and love for their environment. Some of them are now the new leaders of their communities and take over new challenges to protect their environment and their communities. Promoting regenerative agriculture will generate resilience among families in poverty.
