Care For Healthy Life Initiative plans to support 100 elderly people in Anambra State. Aging is associated with functional decline plus health and social support needs. Older people worldwide consume the most health spending of any age group and there is also an increasing number older people worldwide, especially in developing countries like Nigeria.

Challenge

The Nigerian population is undergoing a demographic transition, with a rising population of older persons. Nigeria has no functional national policy on the care and welfare of elderly persons and since poverty remains a major challenge in Nigeria, elderly people who have retired from the economic productive phase, are most vulnerable to experiencing economic hardship, making them unable to take good care of themselves.

Long-Term Impact

These elderly people will have a better life and will also continue leading a healthy life.
