On August 14, 2021, two deadly earthquakes hit Haiti. Hundreds are dead, thousands hurt and homeless. ESPWA and the Haiti Community Foundation are fighting FOR communities WITH communities. Our goal: to meet emergency needs in the 13 Grand'Anse communes: Water supplies, medical supplies, food, temporary housing/tents. Our priorities: remote villages that don't get aid and more vulnerable populations: pregnant women, children, elderly, disabled. Hoping to serve 15,000 to 20,000 people.
Challenge
The Grand'Anse has been hard hit by the earthquakes. Thousands have been hurt, and/or lost their homes or died. ESPWA & the Haiti Community Foundation (Fondation Communautaire Haitienne-Espwa) are determined to support the communities affected and get them back on their feet. What do they need right now? Water, food, medical supplies and temporary housing. Our hundreds strong network of community leaders have been at work responding to SOS calls from community partners. Join us!
Long-Term Impact
This earthquake has dealt us a blow. We are addressing it heads on and hoping to support the region's most vulnerable as much as we can. We are also seeking ways (once out of the disaster) to help our communities back on their feet. We can't do it alone. We're also working with partners and allies in all sectors to "kore"/strengthen the region. If we can get out of the extreme crisis mode, we hope to learn from it, strengthen our preparedness and leverage this crisis to build our network.
