Can'd Aid intends to further our Treads + Trails mission to provide tools and access for underserved populations to live healthy and active lifestyles by building a fully-accessible and inclusive public playground in Berthoud, CO.

Challenge

Miles Bowling (4) was diagnosed with spastic triplegia cerebral palsy at age two. Though not affected cognitively or verbally, Miles is unable to stand or walk by himself which makes him dependent on a wheelchair for his mobility, freedom and independence. The Bowling family lives in Berthoud, CO, where there are currently no accessible playgrounds within 40 miles. A perfect opportunity to listen and respond to a community's unique needs, Can'd Aid is thrilled to spearhead fundraising efforts.

Long-Term Impact

Can'd Aid's Treads + Trails program provides tools and access for underserved populations to live healthy, active lifestyles and for Miles, and other children with disabilities, access to a playground will make a difference in the rest of their lives by offering independence, inclusion and accessibility at a young age, thereby showing them they are capable for years to come. Through community involvement and volunteer build days, this park will become a lasting reminder of community pride.
