In 2022, SVW has run 66 rescue trips and saved 191 wild animals of 30 different species, including 39 pangolins. We released 180 pangolins and carnivores back into the wild while taking care of 30 pangolins and carnivores permanently at the rescue centers. We have worked hard to provide the best welfare for the animals through daily veterinary and captive care activities. Seven surgeries were performed successfully, 34 animals requiring special veterinary treatment had made a full recovery.

Challenge

Most rescued animals are trafficked from illegal wildlife trade. 100% animals are dehydrated, force fed, starved, or have suffered injuries from being trapped and stressed due to long transportation in nets and even in ice boxes. As soon as animals are rescued, they need to be given first aid, food, and water immediately before being transferred to the rescue center for a general health check and medical treatment.
