According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane, for its initials in Spanish) 3.12 million young people between 15 and 28 years did not study or work in Colombia. MAKAIA will train 100 women from low-income communities in coding and programming skills, providing access to better jobs, and giving opportunities for building a career or starting their own businesses through technology.

Challenge

In Latin America just 30% of women are working in the technology industry; In Colombia, only 2 out of 10 women choose to study a career related to science and technology. we are looking for closing the gap gender and creating more opportunities to improve womens skills in the IT sector.

Long-Term Impact

If we give 100 girls the right skills and opportunities with technology, they will become change agents in their communities, raise the voice of women and youth in technology and become role models for other youth. By aligning the training with the development of the city and driven by market opportunities, many excluded youth will have the opportunities to transform their life and the one of their communities. They will be able to find high-paid jobs that can promote social mobility.
