This project will build a safe, sustainable school in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia providing a conducive learning environment and encouraging the local community to send their children to school. School that's currently in unsafe condition will be rebuilt to consist of safe foundation, walls, roof, and clean toilet, and equipped with indoor furniture, toys and outdoor playground. Teachers, parents and community members will also receive proper training so they can sustain the school.

Challenge

Despite its rich beauty and natural resources, East Nusa Tenggara is the third poorest province in Indonesia. Over 22% of its population lives under $24 a month. A third of the people never attended school or completed primary schooling. Children aged 0-9 years represent 23% of the population and they're not always in school because the quality of schools and supporting facilities are often very poor and unsafe.

Long-Term Impact

We believe that education is the tool to overcome poverty; it is key to success and vital for a better life. Safe schools with proper facilities will give children a solid education and the opportunity to better employment. Educated children support the economic growth of their communities and will uplift East Nusa Tenggara as a whole.
