Imani Collective is working to provide dignified work to Turkana artisans. This work provides self-development for the artisans and their families, empowering them to break the generational poverty in the region. Imani's goal is to build a new foundation for growth by providing improved workstations, bathrooms and sanitation, training programs, mentorship, and guest housing for team members and visitors. Challenge

Out of Kenya's 47 counties, Turkana is the poorest, with 88% of its population living below the poverty line. Workers in extreme poverty struggle to invest in safe living conditions, child education, and necessary healthcare which produces the next generation of economic opportunity, so widespread household poverty creates an intergenerational barrier to broad-based economic development.

Long-Term Impact

It would entail the creation of 120+ jobs that will impact over 300 local families and includes weekly food distribution to the community as well. By bringing more skilled workers into Kenya's workforce, the country's population will be able to support and employ one another, improve their living standards and drive progress towards the creation of a sustained and inclusive economy for Kenya.
